Golf at Kelly Plantation is Hard to Beat
The SOLD OUT one day FSGA tourney was held at Kelly Plantation yesterday. It was a shotgun start and our foursome started on the #4 signature hole. This is the hole you see when you cross the Mid-Bay bridge. It’s sometime referred to as the $15 million dollar hole. The developer chose to build a scenic par 4 along the shore of the Choctawhatchee Bay instead of selling home sites. The golf course was in superb shape from tee to green. Designed by PGA Tour Legend Fred Couples and highly respected course architect Gene Bates, this popular, visually impressive North Florida gem is a wonderland of lakes, winding bayous and tall trees. Dotted with magnolias and palmetto, the course has large, undulating greens, wide fairways and stunning views of Choctawhatchee Bay. It also sports one of the best practice areas in the Destin area with TaylorMade range balls, large undulating putting green and a separate chipping green with two sand traps. The post round shrimp and grits were superb. All in all, a day at Kelly Plantation is hard to beat.
